1st Week; 5 pieces that every Lolita wardrobe should have, regardless of style

Hii ʕ ᵔᴥᵔ ʔ

As research for this challenge, I went through my oldest blog and found out that this is actually the third time I´m attempting this. And that I actually forgot what my first lolita piece was, but that´s a story for another time. I didn´t want to go for the obvious - petticoat, white blouse, etc. What do you consider universal essentials?

1. Earmuffs
Can you tell that I´m freezing right now? :D Earmuffs are not always practical. They get in a way, you can´t hear through them, and at least I hate using them at the same time as my headphones. Unfortunately, they are so damn cute. And accesible. And I feel like they balance every outfit out so nicely. You have nothing to put on your head? You don´t feel like doing an elaborate hairdo? Well, if it´s cold outside, here are earmuffs!

2. Fan
If you have the oposite problem, a fan might help you. Simple black, pink, or one with patterns can be easy to get. You can go for more elaborate one, almost like from Versailles. Some european courts even had a fan language – you can learn some phrases with you friends and use it at meetups, just make sure no one else understands before you sign anything scandalous! :D

3. Brooches
You wanted to be casual, but not so casual? Or you don´t feel OTT enough, yet your arms, neck and head don´t have any spare space? Well, cute brooche is your best friend. You can go for elegant pearls, little leaf (I do think about Fellowship of the Ring a lot) or something outragiously extravagant, it´s up to you! And since not everyone wears them, it can gather some attention from fellow lolitas and maybe even become a great conversation starter.

4. Go-to headpiece
I feel like I covered this with earmuffs, but I think this is way more helpful whole year around. Do you have any piece, as simple as can be, that you always just throw on? It doesn´t have to go with every single one of your pieces, but it would be helpful. For me, it used to be Margaretha Head Bow, now I prefer simple black headbows. It can be a small bonnet, head-eating bow, or anything that makes your coords feel more complete.

5. Huge collection of socks and tighs
I used to hate getting those under Christmastree, now I specifically request this every year. It´s just so helpful! Not just simple black OTKs in many pairs, but colourful (remember the red thighs trend?), with patterns, lace even… not to mention few matching ones if you are into prints. I think that everyone, even outside the lolita spectrum should have a collection of sock and tighs!

Right now, Paris is getting a little bit warmer. Which is nice, but I´m still looking for new black blazer. It´s such a staple of 80s goth. I already have at least three coats, so it will be a nice change.

Even chilly weather can´t stop us from having a picnic. I went this Monday, maybe chatched a flu, but it was worth it! We went to Jardin de Luxembourg and then to Gibert, this nice 5 floor bookshop. They had amazing renditions of classics as Metamorphosis from Kafka and even a Dracula, but I bought French conversation instead.
Then we had another picnic near Seina, complete with a jazz band playing behind us. I don´t know if I have ever felt so peaceful.

I hope you are doing good! What is your favourite thing about autumn?

52 Weeks Lolita Challenge (Again)

I started this challenge years ago, on my previous blog.
I was not sure why I abbandoned that blog, because I poured a lot of effort into it, and then I started to read the articles. They are not bad, but my god. My social life. I used to be party girl in high school, which improved my confidence first, but also got me in an downward spiral. Reading those articles, where everything was new is fun, but also makes me scared for choices that girl used to make.
So yeah, it feels right I switched to new one year ago and now (simultaneously) Tumblr :D. I didn´t finish this challenge, just like most other things, but I want to revisit it and maybe even answer all the questions? After all, this is The Year I´m Getting Things DoneTM.
We will see :D.

5 Things I Love (And Hate) About Living Paris

Hii!

As I mentioned a few times. I´m almost in the half of my Erasmus internship, and it makes me so sad. I´m not sure if I would really want to live there, but I do enjoy staying there right now. It´s hard to imagine coming back to the greyness of every day life but hey – at least I will get to resume all my dramas.
I came up with few great and few less than stellar things about this so called city of love.

I´m not lost if I enjoy the scenery

5. It Sounds Good
Okay, call me selfish, but I really like how stunned everyone seems by this :D. Internship in Paris sounds waaay more glamorous than it is, but I won´t try to dispute this. Even my sister likes telling about my newest occupance to people who know me. What can you expect from small town weirdo? I don´t have to prove myself to anyone, but thats doesn´t mean I don´t want to.

5. French
In a way, both language and mindset. I actually took a semester of French in my 1st year of University, and I plan to continue, but when someone native speaks it all I can say is „Ehh?“ Because it just doesn´t sound anything like it was supposed to. Accents and excetric speech patterns aren´t something you can get prepared for.
As for mindset, the strange gatekeeping and hatred of everything classically Parisian surprises me sometimes. I think it´s kinda like with Star Wars fans – No one hates Star Wars more than it´s biggest fans.

4. Multiculturality
Listen, I´m from small town. Or, one of the bigger towns, but that doesn´t mean a lot for Czech Republic. I didn´t actually hold a full conversation with a person of colour (that wasn´t Romani) until high school. I got to meet people from different backgrounds in university, as I travelled for some projects, but I was never so endorsed in different cultures until now.
Also, I live in the middle of the Chinatown. I can comfortably leave my house, get some dim sums, catch metro to my favourite Lebanesse place and if I feel extra fancy, maybe even go to get some teriyaki chicken from Carrefour. Sadly, I don´t really do that because…

4. Living on Scholarship
Now, I won´t tell you that this is an expensive city. It is, and everyone knows it. I have no right to get actually upset about this – I decided to go there. But it´s so difficult to do more than just bare surviving here if you are on an Erasmus budget. And good luck if you end up surrounded by richer people – which I always do, ever since high school. In Olomouc, my university city and closest thing I have to home, I sometimes had up to three part time jobs to keep up with rent and actually have fun. That didn´t leave a lot of time for fun itself, but it had to be done.
It´s not really an opportunity here – I feel like even the part time jobs are proffessional here? So I just budget. Oh, I want to go out? Okay, I can get either two mocktails, or something to eat. You guys want to go to that „cheap“ place? Okay, I will get baklava. I already ate.
And don´t let me even start on rice. I´m drowning at it. At least soy and teriyaki sauce are just one Euro.

My favourite corset in Versailles -
and my baby cousin wore skirt for first time in years!!!

3. Opportunities
Do you want to go shopping, to park or to some gallery? Okay, modern, contemporary, medieval?... You can never run out of options here! Every day is definitely shaping my decision to move abroad to some bigger city after I finish school, because I can´t imagine living without all those neverending options.

3. FOMO
Okay, sometimes it´s actually too much. I feel bad about just chilling in my apartment the whole day, even if I really do need it. Luckily, my friends always come up with some plans, so I don´t get to rot in bed so much.

Sunset straight from Monet, near my office

2. History
There is something magical about reading Tropic of Cancer and Interwiev with Vampire while in Paris. Or watching Midnight in Paris, 400 Hundret Blows and all of those wonderful films. I really enjoy the legacy that cultural giants left for us. Some of it is even psychical – I´m preparing to go to Oscar Wilde´s grave tomorrow.

2. Weather
This city can never decide if it´s going to be a nice sunny day or downpour. Few days ago, I went shopping. I entered Monoprix with sun out and no cloud in sight. I had to run back home later, because it was raining so much. And temperatures are even worse – it was supposed to be hot here, goddamit. Now I´m freezing everyday bacause I didn´t bring a coat. Also, it´s freezing in some apartments. I actually go out to warm up a little bit.

Jardin du Luxembourg, supposedly with free wifi?
(didn´t find it)

 1. The View From My Window
I don´t really have a kitchen, just stove. My toilette doesn´t really flush. But dear God, the view is gorgeous. I can see Pantheon, Notre Dame, the entirety of 13th, …  and I get blinded by the Eiffel Tower lasers some nights. I love this.

1. My Office
Okay, I couldn´t come up with another negative :D. I love my office and my job. As a young punk, corporate office desk job was my worst nightmare. Well, call me a sellout, but having AC and free coffee isn´t so bad. Of course, everyone in our office is nice, young intern, so that helps a lot. It really feels like catching up with friends every day.
As for my job, I´m a head of event department. That means I get to respond to a lot of emails from people that are not passive aggressive. I love that. All I have to do is be nice to them. I got so used to sign us

I wrote all of this before I commuted to office today. Due to demonstrations, suprising repairs and late bus, I got to work one hour too late. How typical.
Why do I work on weekends? Don´t worry, they don´t make us, but it´s our festivals´ last day! Well, one of them. It´s in Kigali, Rwanda, so we don´t get so much of festival atmosphere, but at least we have lifestreams. Let me tell you - if you put your work to any festival, interns and employees do judge your films. We laugh if it´s bad, but we also stay deadly silent if it´s good or touching.
In a sense it´s good to know - even if your film won´t get to any festival and no one else gets to watch the movie, someone will have to see it anyway.
I was sending emails to winners today, and it was touching. I felt strangely proud of them - after all those weeks of communication (or lack of) it was finally paid off!
I´m little sad it´s ending but hey, our Asian festival will start next month!

See you soon!

Missing My Frills

One month ago, I had to make a crucial decision – take two my lolita dresses to Paris, or have a lot of clothes. I also intended to pack a matching cardigan, one pair of teaparties, … I overestimated my bag quite a bit.

By the end, I had to be practical with my three months of clothing, Luckily, I´m goth outside of frills, so I didn´t struggle with matching everything together, but I still feel like I could have had a better judgement. For example, just because summers are extreme here doesn´t mean that autumn is going to be same. You are right, I´m already freezing everyday, and I will be here until October.
One more thing surprised me, though. I miss my lolita wardrobe so much. I didn´t expect such a craving – for the elegant, eye catching and most of all, mine. I consider an actual lolita wardrobe (not an inspo folder) quite personal for everyone and I feel rather silly for not taking anything with me. Well, I have two blouses, but that´s not the same.
I wish lolita didn´t také so much space. I can´t wait to actually wear it when I get back home. One of my friends became interested in the fashion, so I hope we will have a little meet-up in November! (♡˙︶˙♡)

I made this two-pager in my journal a few weeks ago, and I didn´t actually think anyone will see it, but why not. Those crude drawings include my favourite coords and my favourite things, as weel as some stories and feelings.
I really missed this.

See you soon!
