Can You Actually Buy Lolita in London? The Lolita in London Scam

 Hi! 。.:☆*:・'(*⌒―⌒*)))

I just came home from London (and I´m already planning my next visit there). Among many other must-sees, my group went to Camden. It wasn´t my first visit there, so I was already excited for Humble Crumble, Cyberdog, food market and many, many shopsof various colours and decoration. What I didn´t really anticipate was new shop, right in the heart of the market - Lolita in London

My expectations weren´t too high - I thought that the quality is going to be at the same level as Sai Sai. And it was way smaller than both London and Paris Sai Sai, so I didn´t even expect any variety. The thing is, while there was very nice shop keeper, there was no acutal lolita. You could find very cute larme skirts, some pieces just perfect for jirai kei, but as for the titular lolita, there were just some headdresses. They were shiny enough to blind an aircraft pilot and you could see the hanging threads from miles, so it was a hard pass eventhough they cost only 12 pounds.
I didn´t buy anything, but it did stick in my mind. I just had to Google it.

Upon inspection, I was obviously happy I didn´t find any main piece there. The quality is awful, the prices actually hurt me and the usage of word lolita killed my entire family and set my flat on fire. Obviously, Lolita in London is run buy resellers, which makes you wonder why didn´t they pick better pieces to resell.
Even on those four dresses, you can see that the term lolita is used very loosely here. The silhouttes are plain wrong, the materials don´t work and I think that at least the pink "dress" is a replica?
It doesn´t really take a pro to disect everything wrong there.

Here are some of my favourites.

Okay, I have to say, this one isn´t even that hideous. You can hear the swooshing sounds this JSK probably makes, but it´s one of the better ones. That still doesnt qualify it for the price tag of 317 euros.

Sometimes, a bad coord can be salvaged by petticoat. Not in this case. Lolita in London does sell a petticoats, which begs a question why did this go so wrong? Are their pettis responsible for this?

If anyone feels nostalgic for Milano, this is the perfect solution.

I think it´s obvious that the owner doesn´t care too much for the lolita fashion. That makes the fact that they are trying to organize a tea party even weirder. Their invitation didn´t get much traction - it´s safe to say that London lolita community doesn´t care that much for them.
I feel like this fact speaks for itself - in this higly digital world, a physical shop would normally be something cherished. There are some limits, though, and Lolita in London flies straight under them.

Other than lolita, they carry surprisingly nice catalogue of beauty products, clothing and accessories. While 22 euros may be too high for butterfly top from Shein, it´s not that bad for London. They even have surprisingly nice wigs. They wouldn´t that bad, if only they dropped the lolita from their title.

Have a nice evening!
See you soon! /(^ × ^)\
