Hiii! (o^▽^o)
I took unexpected break from this blog as the semester has me beaten down. I´m actually working on a post about it, but in the meantime, why not writing about something nicer? :D
I adore Emily Temple Cute, it´s one of my favourite lolita brands even if I usually slide more towards goth and old school. I guess it´s something about their demure cuteness and nostalgic designs that makes me look towards new Instagram post every day.
They remind me of british cartoons and shows I watched as a kid. When I was little and longed to be sent to boarding school somewhere in England, this is what I wore in my imagination. And, of course, now that I´m older, I love the idea of sitting in our university library, studying for my thesis and feeling cute and cosy in ETC.
A lot of these are rereleases, so I won´t point it out at each individual piece.
There´s a lot of stripes, tartan and darker colours in their new pieces. My favourite one from this autumn is Chocolate Sleevel Dress.
First of all, chocolate is something I´m always craving. Second, I love the realisation. It looks elegant, while also beign cute. I´m a real sucker for prints that feature a literal bars of chocolate. In case of this JSK, I also really enjoy the cut - it´s simple, but the print is rather busy and I like the peter pan collar.
And there´s also a jacket! I looove jackets in lolita coords. The mix of sweet and bussiness brings me great joy. This series comes in dark, milk and strawberry - darker brown, lighter brown and baby pink. All of them move print to different teritory.
We will stay at the sweet territory with WhipCake. Something about the name bothers me a little bit, but otherwise it´s perfect. Most of the releases I choose today are all over prints. I´m not sure how I would call this one (horizontal?), but I don´t care that much, as it works perfectly. When I look at this, I can feel the layers of whipped cream, cake, strawberries and another whipped cream.
It makes me wish there were more tiramisu themed series - or any. Maybe I will design one? :D
The small details really make this dress - the ribon in straps, buttons and the lace around them, I even enjoy the ribbon that adds a lot of visual interest. I feel like this dress can be greatly dressed up or down, worn both in winter and summer without looking out of place.
I really like how the layout is arranged. You can see this perfectly in the black colourway. It´s my favourite one, maybe even to the point of being a dream dress.
It also comes in pink and red. I feel like the red one is the sweetest, it looks like it´s filled with jam.
(This review is starting to make me hungry.)
I cannot pass the opportunity to talk about another chocolatey dress. Chocolate Maker is a real ode to the sweet treats - there´s a bar, there are pralines, bonbons, cookies... I adore the way it´s put together, with all the different colours.
I also think it´s really interesting how they show up on all the colourways - it looks completely different on white, green tea, choco mint and dark.
The colours are a little bit different than the original release from 2022, and this time it features a skirt too. I think I like either white or green tea the best.
Look at this and tell me that Ribbon Apple doesn´t scream autumn, I dare you. The colours, the tartan, the apples - you could definitely catch me watching Gilmore Girls and Teen Wolf, ultimate autumn shows, in this.
Outside of many other things, such as the amazing colours, I find the usage of ribbon in this series very pleasant. I like it both in details and in the print - the apple peels are supossed to transform into one.
BonCroissant is pretty simple. The print is heavy with pastry and sometimes there cutlery, butter and jams. With JSK, it has pretty simple cut too, outside of the scallop hem and thin ribbon belt. I think that is the reason why it works so well - you can make it into so many different outfits and styles.
Also, can you imagine not even sligtly liking croissants? It´s absolutely not my favourite pastry, but it´s certainly one of the best looking ones.
Also, the tiny jams and butters are so cute.
Another thing I enjoy about ETC is that they can make great novelty/funny pieces. For example, PASTA!! and Tasty Labels.
PASTA!! is not only inspired by (well) pasta, but also Italy as a whole - that´s why there´s italian ribbon and why there are another typical components of mediterranean cuisine featured. I also think that the colour names are so cute - cheese, basil, tomato. It´s so amazingly campy.
While researching I also founf out that Lief also has a pasta series - Angel Pasta. That one is a little less on the nose, yet still really cute.
As for tasty labels, the print is made of mix of condiments and other kitchen stuff. There´s a lot of colours, but their arrangement and cut of the pieces is rather simple. I think your enjoyement of the series is based on your feelings about walking around with ketchup and mayo on your skirt.
So far, all of those have been prints, but I also enjoy simpler ETC designs. In general, I prefer either solid pieces or simpler patterns in my coords. For that reason, I´m head over heels with Monotone dress. It´s kind of an OP that gets lost in a season - it´s simple and there have been a lot of similar pieces over years.
Still, I must love the cut, the sleeves, the collar, the little buttons and the belt detail. All of these make this dress stand out in my opinion. It also comes in gray, but I think it´s perfect in black - it´s everything I would want for a day to day coord. I´m not sure if I´ll ever find it second hand AND shipping from Europe (I´m not paying customs), but if I´ll you´ll see me in this a lot.
Biggest suprsise (for me, at least) was this dainty Twinkle Drop OP. It comes in bright blue too, but I feel like yellow version is perfect. It´s something a fairy would wear. I love the choice of fabric - it looks so soft and airy.
This must be 100% the cutest dress for summer.
Are you enjoying fall?
I don´t feel very original about the fact that this is my favourite part of the year. I don´t, however, care about originality, because it´s best time of the year - since school started, there´s so much to do, the world is so beautiful, and it has never been cosier to just sit home and drink coffee.
All the cafes in Olomouc have seasonal drinks now - there´s a lot of Pumpkin Spice, walnuts and toffees, but also some experiments with matcha. And hot chocolate.
Dear god, hot chocholate. I´m back in Karviná for this weekend, so we went for the best chocolate in both the town and the world with my sister (Denda) yesterday. I was soo excited for this - it´s only 70 CZK (around 2,9 EUR) but it´s delicious, filled with whipped cream, topping, sprinkles and mini marshmallows.
After that, Peťa and Adam came over and we played Bang. I won twice :D. After stressfull week back in uni, this is exactly what I needed.
For the night, instead of our usual document we played the Sims. Of course, most of the time and thought went into our characters, as Denda wanted to play for the two of us :D. We didn´t discover how to make our Sims sisters/twins (is that one ven possible) yet but at least we have a jobs.
Today, I´m heading back to Olomouc for my Rocky Horror Picture Show Party. Originally it was only a screening because we have to watch it for a seminar, but since I love that movie, things got a little bit out of hand.
I´m excited for the rest of the month, too - we (me and Denda) will have birthday party with our friends next weekend, then we will go to Vienna, and by next week, there will be Halloween :D. I´m going to a cabin in Beskydy with ESN, a student organisation I joined this year. On 1st, however, I´m coming back to Karviná - Adam is holding a Haloween party.
This year, hopefully, I will finally arrange one too, me and my flatmate Zaira have been talking about this already. I originally wanted to be Revenge era Gerard Way this year but there´s not way I´m buying skinny jeans.
Outside of that, Zaira is watching one spooky movie every day this October. I have only seen the Last Hellraiser and Black Phone with her. I really enjoyed the latter, but it was impossible to be scarred of shirtless Ethan Hawke for me.
Do you guys have any plans for Halloween?
See you soon!
Bye! ♡ (˘▽˘>ԅ( ˘⌣˘)
